Yellowstone Snowmobile Update 2007/2008

In March 2007, the National Park Service released a draft Environmental Impact Statement (dEIS) seeking public comment on how future winter recreation will be managed in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. The dEIS outlines six alternatives for consideration, with the Park Service’s Preferred Alternative calling for continued use under the current winter use plan. Under the Preferred Alternative, snowmobile use would be allowed in Yellowstone with accompaniment of a commercial guide. The public comment period will remain open until May 31, 2007. Once the Park Service has a chance to consider the public comments, they will issue the final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and a Record of Decision – these are expected to be released in the Fall of 2007. As the National Park Service’s Preferred Alternative calls for continued snowmobile use in Yellowstone at historic levels, we are currently accepting reservations for the 2007/2008 season..

If you would like additional information on how you can get involved in the public comment process, please do not hesitate to contact us at the e-mail address listed below.
